Dear Parents and Guardians, I hope this message finds you well. As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and security of our students and staff, we are implementing a new protocol for visitors entering our school for events & when eating lunch with students. Beginning December 2nd, we will require all visitors to present their driver’s license before being allowed into the building. This will require you to show your license to the camera at the door in order to be allowed into the building. This will be required anytime you enter the building during school hours including student of the month breakfast, class parties and eating lunch with your student. Once you enter, you will report to the front office with your license to speak with our front office staff about the purpose of your visit. In order to be allowed to attend the school event or have lunch with your student, your license must be scanned into our system. In an effort to expedite the process we are asking that all parents/guardians and any other visitors that may come to campus for your student come to the school to have their driver license scanned into our system between now and November 22nd as we will start implementing this safety protocol December 2nd. This process helps us maintain a secure environment and allows us to monitor who is on campus at all times. Here are a few key points regarding this new procedure: Effective Date: This new protocol will start on December 2nd. Scanning Dates: October 29th - November 22nd Where to Go: Please come to the front office upon your arrival. Time Required For Scanning: The scanning process will only take a few moments. Privacy Assurance: We assure you that your information will be kept confidential and used solely for safety purposes. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we implement this important safety measure. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out. Thank you for your continued support in making our school a safe place for our children. Warm regards, Dottie English Principal

Last evening GSCS held a town hall meeting to open a conversation about students’ cell phone use in school. Do cell phones compliment students' educational experience or create conflict? Schools across the state and nation have implemented policies regarding cell phones. Click this link to watch a video of an example of one option. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRQa8X5ORek There is no proposal in GSCS, at this time, we simply would like to gather feedback from staff, students, parents and community members on this subject. Use the following link or scan the QR code in the image to take the survey. https://tejoin.com/scroll/624212205 Please complete the survey questions and answer the primary question in the Thought Exchange then please rate at least ten of the thoughts that others have shared. If the thought is something you believe has merit and should be further discussed rate it a four or a five. If the idea is not something that resonates as needing additional conversation rate it lower (1,2,3). Thank you in advance for your valuable feedback.
